247deals shuts down

247deals shuts down leaving customers and merchants confused and angry

247deals shuts down

The daily deals website "247deals" shut down sometime during May 2012 without any official notice to its customers, merchants and service providers – thus says Steven F. from Johannesburg who was been left with 3 deal vouchers that were not honored by merchants who claimed that they had not received due fees from 247deals. Unfortunately, according to various online sources, Steven is far from being alone in this ordeal with tens of others published posts and comments about the subject and the customer's anguish.

All attempts to contact the owner of 247deals – Mr. Jerry Biti of the Gambit Group – have failed and no official notice has been given. According to unofficial reports, 247deals.co.za has a sister website in Australia (http://my247deals.com.au/) which is still running. Perhaps the managers could be contacted via that website?

Quit a  few group buying websites have shut down over the last year in South-Africa, among them Dealio, Dealify, Zappon, Dealson, dealaday, mobstir, ucit, bangoo and another 5 or so. So the news that 247deals shuts down shouldn't be too different right? Wrong, the difference is that almost all the other websites closed down in an ethical and professional manner, giving official notice and trying to refund their customers and merchants. According to  numerous blog comments, this is not the case with the shutting down of 247deals which has left a wave of unhappy customers and merchants who are now waying their options. On one of the blogs – "relax with dax"  - the owners' email addresses have been published in an attempt to help people contact the managers of 247deals and those responsible for their damages.

It seems that the full ramifications of the "247deals shuts down" will only be seen over the next month or so and of course we will keep you posted.

Rococo Lounge refused to honor the breakfast vouchers bought from 247deals.co.za and advised customers to request refunds, because they have not received payment from the group-buying site. Unacceptable!
